GOLF OLD COURSE - CANNES-MANDELIEU

In 1891, after visiting St-Andrews in Scotland where he discovered the joys of Golf, the Grand Duke Michael of Russia decided to build the first golf in Mandelieu between the sea and a river called the Siagne. The Cannes-Mandelieu Old Course was designed by Harry Colt. The course is set in under beautiful and immense pine trees. During your game you will need to cross the Siagne river on a little boat. The 9 hole course is the authentic creation of the Grand Duke Michael of Russia with its magnificent Normandy style club House.

BARBOSSI RIVIERA GOLF - MANDELIEU-LA-NAPOULE

Signed by the american Robert Trent Jones Senior, this very technical course isn't very wide, 5,444 m, par 72. It contains several difficulties, notably on certain approaches to the greens which are hard to negociate. Quiet game in the first part with the return decidedly more demanding. Watch out for : the architectural quality of the installations.

SAINT DONAT GOLF CLUB - GRASSE

Saint Donat was one of the first courses in this region with so-called "modern" architecture. The world famous Robert Trent Jones Jr moulded this magnificent golf course into a variety of shapes, making intelligent use of existing vegetation and topography, contouring the flatter areas without ever overdoing things.

 

The result is a very precise layout, where the meanders of a small river come into play on half a dozen or so holes. A good number of bunkers and groups of trees form some distinctly worrying hazards often placed close to some interesting and varied greens.

 

At Saint Donat Golf Course, emphasis should be on technique and caution in the choice of club, not on length, although after a period of adjustment all players can enjoy a round of golf here, as long as they are not over ambitious. While the first ten holes are rather flat, the last eight offers hilly encounters with a few very spectacular holes.

GOLF DE LA GRANDE BASTIDE - CHÂTEAUNEUF-GRASSE

The Grande Bastide golf course is one of the Côte d’Azur’s most famous. It is situated at the heart of the region of perfumes, at the foot of the hills of the Niçoise hinterland. Blending perfectly with it’s environment, it offers magnificent views of Grasse, Opio and Châteauneuf de Grasse.

 

Designed by Cabell Robinson, once a partner of Robert Trent Jones Senior, the course is essentially comtemporary. It offers the golfer wide-open fairways and greens protected by numerous bunkers and water obstacles.

GOLF COUNTRY CLUB - CANNES-MOUGIN

In 1923, the Cannes Country Club was founded by a group of illustrious gentlemen such as Aga Khan, Prince Pierre of Monaco and Baron Edouard de Rothschild.

 

In 1978, two talented golf architects, Peter Allis and Dave Thomas, delivered a completely redesigned and rejuvenated golf course. In the course of the 80s, Cannes-Mougins was the one and only private golf course on the French Riviera. Between 1980 and 1994, it was also the great stage for the prestigious Cannes Open, an important event of the European Tour (some winners’ names are very famous such as Jean Garaialde, Greg Norman, Severiano Ballesteros, and Ian Woosnam).

 

Now famous for the quality of its course and infrastructures, Cannes-Mougins Golf & Country Club has become the ultimate location, on the French Riviera, for golfers of Europe and the rest of the world.

GOLF ISOLA 2000

The lastest golf built in the region, the golf of Isola 2000 is also the heighest golf course of Europe. This mountain course of average length is very technical due to its uneven topography and at an altitude of more than 2000 m : differences in level, ravines, small valleys, larchs, ... But for the one who doesn't look for the performance and play the security, the course will reveal very pleasant, with views on the Argentera Massif, Mercantour park and Isola 2000 Valley.
